The CCI of Moldova, in partnership with the USAID Structural Reform Program in our country, has launched a new digital service - "Electronic Certificate of Origin - eCO".
According to the Moldovan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, this service is part of the new digital services platform of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry www.client.chamber.md. This online service of the Moldovan Chamber of Commerce and Industry aims to facilitate international trade procedures for exporters who will benefit from an easier and faster method of verifying the origin of exported products. The module of electronic certificates of origin, developed on the platform www.client.chamber.md, allows to submit applications and receive an electronic certificate at a distance. At the same time, the platform provides for checking the validity of an online certificate using modern technologies, which ensures increased security of documents in foreign economic transactions. President of the Moldovan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sergiu Harea noted that over the past 2 years, the Moldovan Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been actively implementing a strategy for digital transformation of its services and, in this context, today, with the support of the USAID Structural Reform Program in Moldova, is launching a new service. “We are abandoning a certificate - a form of strict accounting in favor of a digital document with a much higher level of security. The new platform provides online verification of the validity of a certificate using modern technology. The certificate of origin is issued only in electronic format. To stimulate and encourage entrepreneurs to apply online, from next year the Chamber of Commerce and Industry will apply preferential rates for those who will use the platform www.client.chamber.xn - xn - md-efa-3sa, - Sergiu Harea said at the presentation of the new service. During the event, the procedure for issuing a non-preferential certificate of origin in electronic format was presented, and the USAID program donated equipment to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for managing digital services in the institution. The electronic certificate of origin will be gradually introduced to enable economic agents to adapt to the new electronic product. In turn, Milo Stevanovich, Director of the USAID Structural Reform Program in Moldova, stressed that thanks to this event, Moldova joins 27 other countries in the world that have electronic systems for issuing non-preferential certificates of origin. "Made in Moldova" is becoming a well-known and valuable brand. The name "Made in Moldova" appears only on exported goods that are accompanied by a certificate of origin confirming their origin. From today, this certificate becomes electronic, issued by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The new electronic certificate provides for simpler procedures for requesting, receiving, presenting at the border and checking by the authorities. Automation is making a real difference with around 13,000 certificates issued annually. Digitization in Moldova is currently taking place in many directions, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry occupies a leading position. This automation process is an important step towards a more competitive, modern and transparent business environment, ”emphasized Milo Stevanovich. The CCI of Moldova is the only body authorized by law to issue non-preferential certificates of origin, confirming the origin of goods exported to countries with which Moldova does not have free trade agreements. This certificate is required by trading partners and customs authorities of importing countries to verify the origin of goods. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry issues over 13 thousand such certificates annually. // 30.11.2021 — InfoMarket
