Railway transport accounted for 4.8% of total imports, sea transport - 2.8%, air transport - 2.4%, self-propelled imports - 0.6%, postal items - 0.2%, and the share of fixed transport installations (gas pipelines, power grids) - 3.3% of total imports. In particular, the volume of imports to Moldova of products from the EU for 8 months of 2021, in comparison with the same period of 2020, increased by 34.8% - to $ 2 billion 050.1 million, from the CIS countries - increased by 24.7% - to $ 1 billion 051.1 million. Import of goods from other countries increased by 35.7% - to $ 1 billion 302.3 million. The share of EU countries in the total volume of Moldovan imports increased from 45.77% to 46.56%, the share of CIS countries decreased from 25.36% to 23.87%, and the share of other states increased from 28.87% to 29.57%. The TOP countries that accounted for the largest volumes of Moldovan imports in January-August 2021 included: Romania (12.4% of total imports), Russia (12.2%), China (11.7%), Ukraine (9.3%), Germany (8.1%), Turkey (7.1%), Italy (6.6%), Poland (3.8%), France (2.6%), Belarus and Hungary (1.9% each), Czech Republic (1.7%), USA (1.6%), Austria (1.5%), Spain (1.4%), Bulgaria (1.3%), Holland (1.1%), Japan (1%), Great Britain (0.9%).
