
Imports to Moldova increased 32.4% in January-September 2021, amounting to $5 billion 072.7 million against the same period in 2020.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported that, at the same time, traditionally, most of the goods were imported into the country by road - 85.5% of the total. Railway transport accounted for 4.9% of total imports, sea transport - 3.1%, air transport - 2.4%, self-propelled imports - 0.6%, mail - 0.2%, and the share of fixed transport installations (gas pipelines, power grids) - 3.3% of total imports. In particular, imports to Moldova of products from EU countries for 9 months in 2021, versus the same period of 2020, increased by 32.6% - to $2 billion 323 million, from the CIS countries - increased by 28.9% - to $1 billion 233.6 million. Import of goods from other states increased by 34.9% - to $1 billion 516.1 million. The share of EU countries in the total volume of Moldovan imports increased from 45.71% to 45.79%, the share of CIS countries decreased from 24.96% to 24.32%, while the share of other states increased from 29.32% to 29.89%. The TOP countries that accounted for the largest volumes of imports to Moldovan in January-September 2021 included: Russia (12.5% of total imports), Romania (12%), China (11.8%), Ukraine ( 9.3%), Germany (8%), Turkey (7.4%), Italy (6.5%), Poland (3.8%), France (2.5%), Belarus (1.9% ), Hungary (1.8%), Czech Republic (1.7%), USA and Austria (1.5% each), Spain (1.4%), Bulgaria (1.2%), Holland (1.1 %), Japan (1%), Great Britain (0.9%).
