
The volume of Moldovan exports in 2020 amounted to $2 billion 485.2 million, having decreased by 10.6% compared to the same period in 2019.
The National Bureau of Statistics informed that, the export of domestic goods in January-December 2020 amounted to $1 billion 905.2 million (76.7% of the total), having decreased by 4.6% compared to the same period the previous year. At the same time, the re-export of goods in 2020 amounted to $580 million (23.3% of the total), which is 25.8% less than in 2019. At the same time, the re-export of goods after processing (clothing, footwear, shoe parts, armchairs, electrical wiring and cables, other products for the automotive industry, peeled nuts, chairs and other furniture, suitcases, textiles, toys, etc.) accounted for 16.8% of total exports, while classic re-exports of foreign goods (medicines, cigarettes, wine distillates, whiskey, gin, vodka, liqueurs, beer, fuel, fabrics, knitwear, essential oils, perfumery and cosmetics, vehicles, furniture, etc.) - 6.5%. According to the NBS, for the export of goods abroad in this period, road transport was most often used - 88.4% of the total volume, followed by sea transport - 7%, rail - 2.8%, air - 1.8%. In general, Moldovan exports to the EU countries in 2020, compared to 2019, decreased by 6.9% - to $1 billion 658.4 million, to the CIS countries - decreased by 13.3% - to $376.9 million, and to other countries - decreased by 20.2% - to $449.8 million. The share of EU countries in the total volume of Moldovan exports for the specified period increased from 64.07% to 66.73%, the share of CIS countries - decreased from 15.65% to 15.17%, and the share of other countries decreased from 20.28% to 18.1%. In 2020, the main countries of destination of Moldovan exports were: Romania (28.4% of the total Moldovan exports), Germany (9.1%), Russia (8.7%), Italy (8.6%), Turkey ( 6.9%), Poland (4.4%), Czech Republic (3.2%), Ukraine (2.8%), Belarus (2.7%), Switzerland (2.5%), Bulgaria (2.3%), Netherlands (2.2%), Great Britain (1.7%), Spain (1.4%), France (1.2%), Hungary (1.1%).
