Capi-Lux and Le Bridge have entered into a partnership to participate in the tender for the operation of duty free commercial spaces at Chisinau Airport.

Capi-Lux and Le Bridge have entered into a partnership to participate in the tender for the operation of duty free commercial spaces at Chisinau Airport.

According to their statement, Capi-Lux, a well-known retailer in international airports, and Le Bridge Corporation Limited, a Moldovan company engaged in distribution and trade in the Travel Retail sector, have decided to cooperate in order to participate in the open tender for the lease of commercial spaces at Chisinau Airport for the purpose of providing catering services and specialized trade in the sterile common area (Travel Retail, Food Beverage) of the capital's airport. The proposal combines the proven Capi-Lux retail concept and operational strength, sustainability orientation with the local expertise and developed infrastructure of Le Bridge. Shortly after the deadline for bids, it was announced that the tender had been canceled. "We take note of the cancellation of the tender, but will follow developments closely and remain interested in participating together with our local partner Le Bridge," said Capi-Lux CEO Guus Jonge Poerink. Capi-Lux is a leading airport retailer offering the best selection of branded consumer goods and is represented worldwide by nearly 70 stores in 21 airports. Part of the B&S Group, its product portfolio includes international brands of perfumes and cosmetics, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, personal care, home goods and consumer electronics, which are delivered to millions of consumers every day - both directly and through distributor and reseller partners. B&S is actively engaged in distribution and catering services to a variety of markets, including airlines, cruise lines, ship suppliers, the diplomatic corps, caterers and peacekeeping missions. Le Bridge Corporation Limited is part of a group of companies that have been successfully operating in Moldova for over 25 years, including 15 years in Travel Retail. The group has made significant investments in the country's economy, creating hundreds of new jobs. It is one of the largest taxpayers, contributing significant amounts to the state budget every year. In 2023 alone, these payments amounted to about 890 million lei. As previously reported by InfoMarket agency, on February 19, the deadline for submitting applications for participation in the previously announced tender for the lease of commercial areas for catering and specialized trade for the sterile zone, Duty Free zone in the premises of Chisinau airport ended. The Public Property Agency and the capital's airport informed that only 2 companies applied for the tender - LeBridge and Lagardere, which does not ensure sufficient competition. Due to this, as well as some shortcomings in the process of organizing the auction, the specialized commission decided to resume the public auction. As a result, a new calendar of the public auction organization process was presented. According to it, from February 21 to March 4, the preparation of documents for the beginning of the tender will take place in compliance with all legal requirements. On March 4, the announcement on the beginning of the tender will be placed. On March 11, the tender submission procedure will be launched, and March 25 is the deadline for submission of bids. The bids will be reviewed on March 26-28, and the auction will take place on March 29 and the announcement of the final results is scheduled. // 23.02.2024 - InfoMarket.
