The company-owner of the Felicia pharmacy chain to acquire the Peon pharmacy chain.
As reported by the Competition Council, Birivofarm, which owns the Felicia pharmacy chain, has announced its intention to acquire 100% control of Peon-Farm, which operates the Peon pharmacy chain. The parties involved in this economic concentration operation are engaged in the sale of pharmaceutical, parapharmaceutical and cosmetic products. The Competition Council is asking all interested parties to comment on how this economic concentration may affect the competitive environment. Peon-Farm was registered in 2011 and its beneficiaries are Irina Politov (80%), Andrei Pascan (10%) and Pavel Ursu (10%). The company owns a network of 60 Peon pharmacies, including 14 in Chisinau municipality, 10 in Anenii Noi district, 9 in Falesti district, 8 in Hincesti district, 4 in Criuleni district, and the rest in 11 other districts of the country. The company is a major taxpayer. In 2022, Peon-Farm's sales revenues amounted to 244.04 million lei (+17.4% year-on-year), while net profit amounted to 2.94 million lei (down almost 1.5 times). The company employed more than 160 people. Birivofarm, which belongs to the family of Lucia and Dorian Berdos, operates the largest pharmacy chain Felicia in Moldova (about 160 pharmacies). In 2022, the company had a turnover of 843.3 million lei (+40.7% compared to 2021) and a net profit of 6.21 million lei (-36.9%). The number of the company's employees reached 480. It is worth mentioning that several years ago, Birivofarm acquired the network of Gedeon Richter pharmacies and the right to retail drugs of this brand. At the same time, Grin-Farm, which also belongs to the Berdos family, obtained the right to wholesale operations with Gedeon Richter products. // 20.09.2023 - InfoMarket
