The Competition Council has not received any notifications or complaints of any irregularities on the oil products market.

The Competition Council has not received any notifications or complaints of any irregularities on the oil products market.

This is stated in the press release of the Competition Council (CC), published in the context of the statement of the Forta Fermierilor (Farmers' Power) Association about the existence of cartel collusion on the market of oil products to create an artificial deficit and unreasonable price increase. It is noted that the Competition Council is studying the current situation in the oil products market, including the behavior of major importers in the context of the consequences of the armed conflict in Ukraine. However, the CC has not received any notifications or complaints regarding alleged violations. In this regard, the CC reiterates its call to all stakeholders to provide any information they may have on the difficulties encountered in the process of purchasing and/or selling petroleum products. The CC had already made such a call in March, but no information on specific facts that could have contributed to the CC's investigation has yet been forthcoming. At the same time, it is reported that the Competition Council is in the final stage of making a decision on the signs of violation of the legislation on competition at the market of retail oil products in the investigation which started in 2021. The final decision of the Competition Council plenum will be made in June-July this year. It is emphasized that the CC takes all legal actions to protect, support and stimulate competition, to promote the collective interests of end consumers, but cannot go beyond the limits of its authority, established by law. // 08.06.2022 – InfoMarket
