In Moldova, the punishment for the storage and sale of perishable foodstuffs without specifying the end date of consumption will be toughened.
This is provided for by amendments to the Code of Contraventions, which have been approved by the government. In particular, the current version of the document stipulates that placing on the market, offering for sale, selling or storing perishable foodstuffs without specifying the final consumption date or after this date shall be sanctioned by a fine for individuals in the amount of 24 to 36 conventional units (1200-1800 lei), for officials - in the amount of 120 to 180 cu (6-9 thousand lei) and for legal entities - in the amount from 240 to 300 cu (12-15 thousand lei) with or without deprivation in all cases of the right to engage in certain activities for a period from 3 months to 1 year. At the same time, the Ministry of Justice proposed to rename the article to "Violation of the requirements for the production, storage, placement on the market and sale of food products" and to provide for two clauses in it with new amounts of fines. In particular, for violations of requirements related to ensuring the safety of products for human life and health and / or for violation of requirements to protect the interests of consumers: for lack of information on the name of food products, a list of ingredients, additives that may cause allergies, shelf life, storage conditions or use, manufacturer's address, country or place of origin, etc. is imposed a fine in the amount of 75 to 100 cu. (3750-5000 lei) for individuals and a fine of 400 to 500 cu. (20-25 thousand lei) to a legal entity. The second clause penalizes the placing on the market or the sale of perishable products without specifying the end date of consumption. For such a violation, individuals are offered to be punished with a fine of 40 to 60 cu. (2-3 thousand lei), officials - 200-300 cu. (10-15 thousand lei), legal entities - 400-500 cu (20-25 thousand lei) with or without deprivation in all cases of the right to carry out certain activities for a period of 3 months to 1 year.// 13.01.2022 — InfoMarket
