The STS will conduct an audit at Valiexchimp, to which were transferred the concession rights and obligations for mining in the south of the country.
This was discussed at a meeting of the Commission of Inquiry set up in parliament in November 2020 to study and assess the situation in the development of mineral deposits - hydrocarbons, limestone, sand. The purpose of the commission is to develop recommendations for the subsequent improvement of the legal framework in this area. According to the press service of the parliament, the members of the commission heard information about the development of hydrocarbons in the form of natural gas and oil, as well as about the problems associated with the activities of Valiexchimp, which is working on the extraction of these minerals. According to the head of the service for the protection of soil and mineral resources of the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and the Environment Alexandru Tambur, the production of hydrocarbons was to be supervised by a government commission, but it ceased its activities for several years. It resumed its work last summer, and at its last meeting it was decided that the State Tax Service should conduct an audit in Valiexchimp in order to clarify all issues related to the budget payments made by the company or their absence. At the same time, the agencies responsible for the control of the field will analyze the legality of Valiexchimp's natural gas and oil production activities in the absence of an agreement (its concession agreement expired in 2017). The Ministry of Agriculture will present a report on the identified problems, as well as the necessary solutions to correct the situation in this area. Recall that in 1995 the Moldovan government signed a concession agreement with Redeco (USA) for the exploration and development of oil and gas resources in Moldova (in the area of the Velena oil field). Subsequently, the rights and obligations of Redeco under the concession agreement were transferred to the Moldovan company Valiexchimp, which acquired Redeco. // 23.02.2021 — InfoMarket.
