Moldova is modernizing agriculture and intends to transform this sector into a highly efficient, sustainable one, compliant with EU requirements - the Ministry of Agriculture
This was stated by Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Ludmila Catlabuga during the 65th General Assembly of the Southeast European Standing Regional Working Group on Rural Development (SWG), which opened in Moldova on April 21-22. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, the event brought together officials from member institutions, high-level representatives, experts in the field, and participants from France, Hungary, and Germany, opening opportunities for broad cooperation, including with countries outside the Standing Working Group. The General Assembly is a strategic platform for dialogue aimed at assessing current regional initiatives, highlighting concrete results, and identifying priorities in agriculture and rural development. In addition to setting the agenda for 2026, the meeting's agenda also includes preparations for major events on the regional calendar: the 2026 Agricultural Policy Forum and the 20th Annual Meeting of Southeast European Agriculture Ministers. Opening the meeting, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry emphasized the importance of regional cooperation in the context of Moldova's European path. She noted that, as of 2023, Moldova has transitioned from observer status to full membership in the Agricultural Development Group, strengthening its position as an active partner. "Thus, we continue our efforts to modernize agriculture, striving to transform this sector into a highly efficient, sustainable one, compliant with EU requirements," said Ludmila Catlabuga. She also praised the Group's ongoing efforts to promote best practices and support knowledge sharing, which are essential for activating joint action to support rural development throughout the region. // 21.04.2026 — InfoMarket.
