The minimum wage in Moldova is to be set at 6,300 lei in 2026, which is 15% more than in 2025 and 115% more than in 2021
As announced by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the issue of setting the minimum wage in the country was discussed jointly with social dialogue partners on the platform of the National Commission for Consultations and Collective Bargaining. In accordance with the decision, this issue was then further considered by the Technical Working Group on Setting the Minimum Wage in the Country, and after extensive consultations with social partners, it was decided that the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection would submit to the government for approval a proposal to set the minimum wage in the country in 2026 at 6,300 lei. The proposal aims to achieve a sustainable increase in the minimum wage, taking into account both the needs of workers and the current economic and budgetary conditions. Setting the new minimum wage for 2026 at 6,300 lei will contribute to achieving the government's goal of gradually increasing the minimum wage in the country, reducing poverty, and combating undeclared employment. In recent years, the dynamics of the minimum wage (gross) at the national level have accelerated. In 2021, the minimum wage was 2,935 lei, in 2022 – 3,500 lei (+19% compared to 2021), in 2023 it was 4,000 lei (+12.5% compared to 2022), in 2024 – 5,000 lei (+25% compared to 2023), and in 2025 – 5,500 lei (+10% compared to 2024). In 2026, it is proposed to set it at 6,300 lei, which means an increase of approximately 15% compared to 2025 and a total increase of approximately 115% compared to 2021. The minimum wage in the country is the minimum amount of remuneration in lei (MDL) set by the state for simple, unskilled work, below which the employer has no right to pay for the monthly or hourly work performed by the employee. // 24.11.2025 — InfoMarket.
