Moldova received $88 million in aid from Canada to strengthen its energy sector
This was discussed, among other things, at a meeting between Moldovan Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and Canadian Ambassador to Moldova Gavin Buchan. The parties discussed the promotion of economic and investment priorities, Moldovan-Canadian projects, and Moldova's European agenda. The head of the Cabinet thanked the Canadian authorities for supporting Moldova's European path, as well as for the financial and technical assistance provided by Canada over many years. As noted, Canada provided $88 million in assistance in 2024 to strengthen the energy sector and supported the participation of women from rural areas in the agricultural and forestry sectors as part of a project designed for them. At the same time, in July this year, a declaration of intent was signed on a pension agreement between Moldova and Canada, which is scheduled to be concluded in the near future. Alexandru Munteanu emphasized his readiness to continue the projects that have been started and spoke about the government's priorities, emphasizing judicial reform, economic growth for the benefit of citizens, and attracting new investments. According to him, after a period marked by crises, the authorities are now focused on development and achieving our country's goal of joining the European Union. // 13.11.2025 – InfoMarket.
