Moldova is discussing the creation of a Guarantee Fund in the insurance sector

The Ministry of Finance held a working meeting to discuss the possibility of creating a Guarantee Fund in insurance, a mechanism aimed at strengthening the protection of consumers of insurance products and increasing confidence in the insurance market. According to the press service of the institution, the discussions were attended by State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Elena Grumeza, representatives of the ministry, the National Bank of Moldova, participants in the insurance market, and other interested parties. The parties considered the specifics of the formation and functioning of such a fund, its role in protecting insurance service recipients, as well as possible models for implementing such a mechanism in Moldova. In addition, international experience and best practices in this area were analyzed. As noted at the meeting, the creation of a Guarantee Fund could be part of the authorities' efforts to strengthen the regulatory framework of the financial sector, including the insurance market, and would ensure a higher level of consumer protection. The Ministry of Finance intends to continue consultations with relevant institutions and market participants to determine the best solutions for implementing this mechanism. // 06.03.2026 — InfoMarket
