Summa - Fiba Partnership continues its strategic investments in the Republic of Moldova’s economy, positioning Chișinău as a regional hub for business and medical tourism

A large-scale project integrating international hospitality and next-generation medical services in a format unprecedented on the local market

Summa - Fiba Partnership announces the official start of construction for one of the most representative and significant integrated projects in the Republic of Moldova: a complex that will include two Marriott International brands — Moxy Hotels and Residence Inn by Marriott — as well as the new Medpark City Clinic, a next-generation medical hub.

The Groundbreaking ceremony, marking the beginning of construction works, took place at Endava Tower in the presence of distinguished guests: government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and representatives of Summa, FIBA Group, and Marriott International. The ceremony opened with the presentation of the architectural concept, followed by an official session of remarks.

Selim Bora, President, Summa: I was 26 years old when I came to this country, and after 30 years, we are still feeling at the same age, with the same encouragement and happiness. We are truly feeling part of the prosperity and development of the Moldova and moldovan economy. You already know what we have achieved so far in this country. Most importantly today we are employing, together with our partner 1250 employees living in stable condition, in harmony, together with us. It means a lot to us. We are keen to increase this number and together with our partner FIBA Group, we have a very dedicated team realizing these projects that we have already mentioned in the near future. There is not much to say, now it's time to work and we have a big project in front of us, we need to execute as soon as possible. Together with our partners we are proud to be part of the development.

The highlight of the event was the festive ceremony of symbolically laying the foundation stone, officially marking the start of construction for the new complex. This traditional gesture highlighted the strategic importance of the project in strengthening Chișinău’s position on the regional map of business and medical tourism.

Murat Özyegin, Chairman, FIBA Group: „As you break ground on this new development featuring two world class hotels and a model medical clinic we reaffirm our confidence in Moldova’s potential as well as our contributing meaningfully in economic and social progress. Each project we have undertaken in this country has structured our partnership and today’s milestone builds directly on that foundation.”

The project marks a new stage in the development of the Marriott International brand on the local market, further strengthening its presence in the region. Moxy Hotels, designed for the young generation, brings a modern experience focused on technology and contemporary design. Meanwhile, Residence Inn by Marriott introduces a new concept to the market, dedicated to guests interested in extended stays.

Ivan Kiseev, Marriott International Senior Director, International Hotel Development CEE & CIS: Today we mark another brilliant beginning. A dual branded hotel with young, passionate and lifestyle brand “Moxy” and Residence Inn by Marriott, targeting long-stay guests. These two hotels will be paired with state of art medical facility, under Medpark brand. This project was shaped by a team that cares deeply about this country and is supported by investors whose long-term vision goes far beyond immediate results, aiming to create a long lasting impact for Moldova.”

Medpark City Clinic, a next-generation medical hub, will form an integral part of the new complex. The unit will be directly connected to the infrastructure of Medpark International Hospital, the only private medical institution in the Republic of Moldova accredited by Joint Commission International (JCI). Medpark City Clinic, designed to deliver comprehensive care and exclusive medical services, will integrate advanced medical specialties, high-quality care standards, international expertise, and specialists with European and global certifications.

Emil Ceban, Minister of Health of the Republic of Moldova: „In recent years, the Republic of Moldova has clearly defined its direction toward the continuous development of medical services, ensuring that every citizen benefits from safe care and performance levels comparable to those in European Union member states. To achieve these goals, we need constant investment in modern infrastructure, advanced technologies, and the ongoing training of healthcare professionals. The inauguration of Medpark City Clinic is precisely such a strategic collaboration, a project that complements national development efforts and contributes to enhancing the medical services offered to the population of the Republic of Moldova.”

The launch of this project strengthens the Republic of Moldova’s investment appeal, demonstrating a market that is increasingly competitive and capable of attracting high-profile international investors.

Natalia Selevestru, State Secretary, Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization: Current development trends — including wine tourism, cultural tourism, gastronomic tourism and medical tourism — clearly demonstrate a growing need for accommodation facilities and increased lodging capacity. Between 2022 and 2024, the growth was only 11 units, representing a modest increase of 2.8%. Unfortunately, this modest expansion in accommodation capacity lags significantly behind the 29% growth rate in visitor numbers. The Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization welcomes the SUMMA–FIBA partnership for the construction of two hotels built to international standards. Together with the inclusion of the Medpark clinic, this project will support and promote medical tourism and expand opportunities in this growing sector.”

The project represents a total investment of EUR 40 million, with the complex scheduled to be commissioned in the first half of 2028.
