
Eight former high-ranking officials have been charged in the Chisinau airport concession case, which caused a loss of 392.1 million lei.
In particular, the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office announced that it had completed an investigation into a new episode of the Chisinau International Airport concession case. As noted, the object of the investigation were illegal actions of public persons and high ranking officials in relation to the concession of the Chisinau airport, which caused to the state a material damage of 392 million 105 thousand 823 lei. The criminal case brought charges under Article 327 paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code ("Abuse of power or official position for the benefit of an organized criminal group or criminal organization") against eight public persons and high-ranking officials: former Prime Minister of Moldova, former Minister of Economy, former Director of the Public Property Agency, former Deputy Director of the Public Property Agency, The Former Deputy Head of a Department of the Public Property Agency, the former Interim CEO of the Chisinau International Airport, as well as the former Financial Director and the Head of the Economic Analysis Service of the same enterprise. It was emphasized that to compensate the damages caused to the state the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office along with the Criminal Assets Recovery Agency under the CNA of Moldova has seized property and assets of the accused in the amount of 28 million 720 thousand 729,91 lei. The article under which they are accused provides for a penalty of imprisonment of 3 to 8 years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of 10 to 15 years. // 09.03.2023 - InfoMarket.
