Moldova has encountered some obstacles in the implementation of projects in the road and railroad sectors
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development reported this, noting that these difficulties and ways to solve them were discussed during a meeting between the head of the ministry, Vladimir Bolea, and members of the working group for supervising the implementation of projects. In particular, at the meeting of the Supervisory Committee of the Program for Supporting Projects in the Road and Railway Sector, chaired by the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, the current state of implementation of projects for the rehabilitation and construction of roads and railways financed from external sources was discussed. Some obstacles encountered in the way of the projects and options for their solution were also highlighted. According to the information presented at the meeting, the works on construction and rehabilitation of roads are currently underway within the framework of 5 contracts signed recently. They are realized with the financial support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. There were also mentioned contracts for construction/reconstruction of roads, which are to be signed by the end of 2024 and in the beginning of 2025. The participants in the meeting also discussed projects implemented in the railway sector, in particular, the rehabilitation of the Bender-Basarabeasca-Etulia-Giurgiulesti railway section, which is being implemented with investments from the EBRD, the European Investment Bank and EU grants. A selection procedure is underway for the company that will carry out design and rehabilitation works on the North-Center section of the railroad, connecting it with the southern section. “The quality of work and adherence to deadlines are key to the success of any infrastructure project. We will continue to closely monitor the progress of these projects and will ensure their implementation in accordance with the highest quality standards for the benefit of people,” Vladimir Bolea emphasized at the end of the meeting. // 02.12.2024 - InfoMarket.
