Sketches of the first multimodal logistics terminal in Moldova at the Beresti railway station in Ungheni were presented
According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, they were developed as part of a feasibility study carried out with the support of the USAID program “Institutional and structural reforms in Moldova”. These sketches reflect the engineers' ideas about the infrastructure, equipment, site and logistics elements, as well as options for the modular development of this logistics complex. The images also show railway and road access roads, container cranes, loading and unloading platforms and warehouses, types of loading and unloading operations for all types of transport of various categories of goods that will be carried out at the Beresti multimodal logistics complex, as well as truck parking. Currently, the feasibility study is considering the possibility of constructing a multimodal logistics complex on a site of approximately 18 hectares owned by the state. According to preliminary estimates, the new infrastructure will allow the annual operation of about 200 thousand trucks, which is equivalent to 4 million tons of cargo. The investment project is aimed at transforming the Beresti terminal into a regional logistics hub, facilitating Moldova’s access to international transport corridors and the country’s integration into the global transport and logistics network. A feasibility study for the construction of Moldova’s first multimodal logistics terminal at the Beresti railway station will be completed by the end of 2024 // 22.08.2024 — InfoMarket.
