Ukraine will finance the construction of a bridge across the Dniester in the Yampol-Cosauti region, which will become part of a new highway between Kiev and Chisinau, reducing the distance between them to 5 hours.

Ukraine will finance the construction of a bridge across the Dniester in the Yampol-Cosauti region, which will become part of a new highway between Kiev and Chisinau, reducing the distance between them to 5 hours.

According to Ukrainian media reports, this was stated by the Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva. “One of the projects that we will start immediately will be the construction of a bridge across the Dniester River in the Yampol-Cosauti region, and a corresponding highway that will connect Kiev and Chisinau. And it will not just connect, but will allow people in almost 5 hours to get by car from Kiev to Chisinau via the new bridge. The construction of this bridge will be financed from the state budget of Ukraine. I would like to note that the construction of the entire bridge is carried out at the expense of Ukraine,” said Ihor Zhovkva. According to him, Ukravtodor is already working on the appropriate regulatory framework for this financing. “Also, Ukraine will finish building a part of the highway from Kiev directly to the bridge. Most of the highway have already been built, restored or reconstructed. Moldova, for its part, will complete its own part of this highway. And, again, part of this road is already built. Therefore, it is an absolutely realistic project with realistic funding. It remains only to fulfill it. The Ukrainian and Moldovan sides received the corresponding instructions from the two presidents,” said Ihor Zhovkva. As InfoMarket agency previously reported, the Presidents of Moldova and Ukraine Maia Sandu and Volodymyr Zelensky signed a Memorandum on the development of the transport and transit potential of Moldova and Ukraine on January 12, 2021 in order to strengthen cooperation in the development of infrastructure, create new jobs and effectively use the transit potential of both countries. To achieve these goals, it is envisaged to create a road transport corridor that will connect Kiev and Chisinau. In the future, this corridor will become the shortest route from the Central region of Ukraine to the countries of Central and South-Eastern Europe. // 19.01.2021 - InfoMarket.
