The EU will continue to support Moldova's efforts to strengthen consumer protection and implement European standards in this area
This was stated by European Commissioner for Democracy, Justice, the Rule of Law, and Consumer Protection Michael McGrath during a visit with Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Doina Nistor to the Single Consumer Service Center. The Center was established with the support of the European Union with a grant of €60 thousand. It was opened in January 2025 and serves as a single point of contact for information, advice, and assistance for consumers throughout Moldova. On this occasion, Michael McGrath reaffirmed the EU's continued support for Moldova's efforts to strengthen consumer protection and stressed the importance of further aligning national policies and practices with EU standards to ensure a high level of protection for all citizens. In turn, Doina Nistor noted that the Single Consumer Service Center, launched with the support of the European Union, plays an important role by offering consumers a single point of contact with 12 state institutions so that they can report problems related to products or services and receive quick and effective responses from the competent authorities. “We’d like to express gratitude to the European Union for its continued and valuable support to Moldova in its efforts to create more efficient, transparent, and citizen-oriented public institutions,” she emphasized. // 06.06.2025 — InfoMarket
