The Moldovan government has approved new rules to ensure citizen participation in the urban and territorial planning process.

As reported by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, in particular, at the initiative of the industry department, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the Regulation on public information and consultations in the process of preparing and approving documentation on territorial and urban planning. The new regulation establishes clear mechanisms for involving citizens in the decision-making process on territorial and urban planning. The goal is to ensure a transparent, inclusive process based on the active participation of the population. The main provisions of the document include: preliminary information of citizens, with a minimum time frame for announcing the consultations; organizing public meetings and using various methods to collect opinions; requirements for the representativeness of data collected during the consultation process; documenting consultations, including recording meetings, publishing minutes and tracking how public comments are reflected in final decisions. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development noted that these measures are designed to increase the transparency of the urban planning process and public trust in administrative documents. The application of the regulation will help ensure sustainable development of the urban environment adapted to the needs of communities.// 28.05.2025 — InfoMarket
