The government has approved additional measures to increase teachers' salaries from January 1, 2025
The government approved the relevant amendments to the initial draft of the state budget and they will be included in the draft law when it is approved by parliament in the second reading. According to Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun, after discussions with trade unions, the government decided to adopt additional salary measures to stimulate the teaching staff and productivity in the education sector. In particular, increased allowances have been approved for teachers with pedagogical education and heads of educational institutions with managerial degrees. After the parliament adopts the additional measures, the increase in the salaries of the teaching staff, depending on the degree, will be up to 15.2% compared to the current year, while the highest increase - up to 2016 lei - will be granted to holders of higher pedagogical degrees. According to the Ministry's calculations, in 2025, teachers without didactic degrees will get a 7.4-7.6% salary increase: they will receive from 9200 to 10780 lei - 632-758 lei per month more than now. Teachers with II didactic degree will get a salary increase by 13.4-13.8%: they will receive from 11025 to 12970 lei - by 1307-1568 lei more than in 2024. Teachers with I didactic degree will get a salary increase by 14.9-15.1%: they will receive from 12675 to 14950 lei per month (+1646-1975 lei per month). Teachers with the highest didactic degree will have their salaries increased by 13.4-13.6%. They will receive from 14250 to 16840 lei, which is 1680-2016 lei more than now. Besides, the amount of allowances for specialists with managerial degrees will increase: from 300 to 1 thousand lei - for II managerial degree, from 600 to 1.5 thousand lei - for I managerial degree and from 1 thousand to 2 thousand lei - for the highest degree. Today, 1374 people have such degrees in Moldova: 1083 teachers have II managerial degree, 221 - I degree and 70 - the highest degree. Methodists and leaders of clubs in kindergartens will also get higher salaries due to the increase of the pay grade from 52 to 56. According to the Ministry of Education, these changes will affect about 30 thousand employees of the education system. It is noted that today the system employs about 77% of the required number of school teachers and 53% of kindergarten teachers. It is worth mentioning that the changes are proposed against the background of the trade unions' protests, which demand an increase in salaries by raising the prime rate by 35% and increasing the minimum wage in the country to 6,000 lei. // 19.12.2024 - InfoMarket.
