Two projects from Moldova became winners of the Emerging Europe Awards 2024: the “Tekwill in Every School” program and the EVO application

The Investment Agency of Moldova reported this, noting that “Tekwill in Every School” program was awarded in the nomination “Future-oriented education”, and the EVO team won in the “Public Sector Digital Transformation” nomination. As the Investment Agency of Moldova emphasized, these awards once again confirm Moldova's innovative potential and significant progress in education and digitalization. Through effort, dedication and vision, Tekwill in Every School is revolutionizing the education system in Moldova, equipping young people with the necessary skills for the digital economy, while EVO demonstrates how digital transformation can streamline and modernize the public sector. In total, the Investment Agency of Moldova submitted six projects to the Emerging Europe Awards 2024 competition, 4 of which received international recognition. The Investment Agency congratulates the teams behind these exceptional projects. As noted by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, the EVO government app won its first international award in the “Public Sector Digital Transformation” category at the Emerging Europe Awards 2024, which recognizes initiatives that fundamentally change society, with a special focus on digitalization and modernization in Europe. The success of EVO and the “Tekwill in Every School” program is a new proof of Moldova's potential to become a regional center of innovation and digital progress. Launched 6 months ago at Moldova Digital Summit 2024, EVO 1.0 has proven to be the central platform for interaction with the state: more than 37 thousand digital bulletins have been issued, more than 1 million lei have been paid through the app and the numbers are growing every day. EVO is an integrated government app that simplifies citizens' access to public services. The app, launched officially on June 6, 2024, offers access to digital documents, information about citizens and businesses, the possibility to pay for various services, and now the possibility to make an appointment. Citizens need an electronic signature to access all EVO functions. Anyone can choose between a mobile electronic signature (offered by Orange or Moldcell) or a signature on a USB-stick. Users are recommended to set up two-step authentication or install the EVOSign application for quick access and authentication after obtaining the electronic signature. The EVO app is available for free on iOS and Android. The app was developed with the support of development partners: the Future Technologies Activity (FTA) funded by USAID Moldova, Sweden and the United Kingdom, along with partners Ukraine Moldova Enterprise Fund, the World Bank and UNDP Moldova. The $52.82 million Future Technologies Activity (FTA) project is being implemented from June 2021 through June 2026 by Chemonics International, Inc. USAID's Future Technologies Activity aims to improve the competitiveness and increase integration with international markets of the transformational sectors of Moldova's economy - information and communication technologies, engineering, light industry, creative industries, and digital media. This project is also supported by Sweden and the UK. FTA will help create a skilled, digitally-ready and flexible workforce by strengthening the links between education and the private sector. FTA will stimulate the implementation of future technologies at the company level to increase productivity and innovation that underpins Moldova's digital economy, utilizing creativity, know-how and technology for sustainable growth. FTA will help companies to move towards a cyclical and sustainable business model and apply green practices and technologies to build a sustainable socio-economic sector in Moldova. // 18.12.2024 - InfoMarket.
