During the first 4 days of the census, reviewers visited 65 thousand households; questionnaires were filled out by 127 thousand people.
Such data was presented by the director of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Oleg Cara, at a press conference on Friday. According to him, in general, the work on the census of population and dwellings is going according to plan. He urged citizens to participate in the census, which will last until July 7. Oleg Cara also answered some questions related to the census, which are actively discussed by the public. For example, the topics and questions in the census questionnaires have been developed in accordance with the provisions of the legislation on population and housing census and taking into account international recommendations. Questionnaires from the 2004 and 2014 censuses were also taken into account to ensure comparability with previous censuses. The questionnaires themselves were discussed with civil society long before the census, and after a series of consultations, during which more than a hundred suggestions and comments were received, the final version of all three questionnaires was approved. Oleg Cara noted that the great advantage of this year's census is that it is conducted in digital format, which saves resources. He also answered a popular question about the midnight of April 7-8, 2024 (the questionnaire includes a question about where the person was at that time). The head of the NBS said that it is an international practice to record the state at a certain reference time. In this case, it is the beginning of the first day of the census. He assured that all the census data are confidential; they are transmitted to the NBS servers immediately after the completion of the questionnaire and are protected by law. The contact phone number is asked in the questionnaire to check whether the reviewer has visited the household. The head of the NBS noted that this year there are fewer reviewers than in other years - only 4 thousand, and the duration of the census is longer - 3 months instead of 2 weeks, but the reviewers are better prepared, and the use of tablets simplifies and speeds up the questionnaire process. // 12.04.2024 – InfoMarket
