In Moldova, from April 1, all patients will be issued only electronic prescriptions for reimbursed medicines and medical devices.
The National Health Insurance Company, in partnership with the Ministry of Health, announced the launch of an automated information system for issuing electronic prescriptions for reimbursed medicines and medical devices (eRețeta). From April 1, doctors have the right to write only electronic prescriptions; pharmacies can issue drugs based on paper prescriptions only if they were issued before the end of March. The main advantage of an electronic prescription is that citizens will be able to receive medicines and medical products with compensation when they present their identification card at the pharmacy. Also, medications will be dispensed to third parties (neighbors, relatives, friends) if the patient cannot go to the pharmacy - for this, the doctor must indicate the identification information of the recipient who is picking up the medications. Another innovation is that not only family doctors, but also specialized doctors will be able to issue electronic prescriptions. The eRețeta information system was developed over the course of a year, the costs for these purposes amounted to 3.4 million lei (for comparison, about 1.5 million lei were spent annually on the purchase of prescription drugs). For the last six months, doctors and pharmacists have been testing the new system and learning how to use it. As noted by the director of the National Health Insurance Company, Ion Dodon, within 24 hours since the launch of the eRețeta system, 1,300 people received more than 3,000 compensated medicines and medical products, and their cost amounted to 0.5 million lei. // 02.04.2024 — InfoMarket
