New restrictions were introduced by the Chisinau Public Health Emergency Commission in the context of the worsening epidemiological situation, the high contagiousness of the new omicron strain of coronavirus and the increase in the number of people infected with COVID-19. Thus, the activities of nightclubs, dance floors, entertainment areas and amusement parks located on the territory of the municipality have been temporarily suspended. Catering establishments will be able to operate using no more than 50% of the total number of indoor seats, and all visitors are required to present a COVID-certificate. Sports and fitness centers will be able to receive a limited number of visitors, based on 7 square meters per client, upon presentation of a COVID-certificate. Theaters, cinemas and concert halls will be able to operate in compliance with the current sanitary rules, and viewers are required to present a COVID-certificate at the entrance. Extra-curricular activities in institutions of primary and secondary education in Chisinau, the work of creative centers, as well as community centers for children and youth, subordinate to the General Directorate for the Protection of the Rights of the Child, will be held remotely from January 20 to February 3. The Commission recommended that public and private enterprises in Chisinau organize the work of employees, if possible, remotely, or introduce a differentiated work schedule. Citizens are advised to keep their distance, avoid crowded places, wear masks in public places, and economic agents are advised to ensure ventilation and disinfection of premises, avoid crowds, etc. The commission demanded that the competent institutions of the municipality strengthen their capacity to monitor and control the epidemiological situation, ensure that individuals and legal entities comply with the established rules in markets, shopping centers, and public transport stops. The municipal commission asked the Ministry of Health to activate additional children's COVID departments in republican and district hospitals and called on the National Public Health Emergency Commission to create a joint strategic communication platform on the epidemiological situation in connection with COVID-19. In addition, the units of the Chisinau City Hall and the Chisinau Public Health Center will hold consultations with representatives of the HoReCa sector, healthcare institutions, education, culture, trade enterprises, private companies and regulatory authorities in order to determine the optimal public health measures in the context of the spread of coronavirus, including the "omicron" variant. Let us recall that, this week in Chisinau, the highest, COVID-19 “red” hazard code operates. // 20.01.2022- InfoMarket.
