From 2021, pensions in Moldova will be indexed twice a year - on April 1 and October 1.
The relevant amendments to the legislation were published on Friday in Monitorul Oficial (the Official Journal of Moldova) and took effect. According to the new procedure for indexing pensions, on April 1, the indexation coefficient will be equal to the average annual growth of the consumer price index over the past 3 years, and on October 1 - the inflation rate registered in the first half of this year. Thus, in April 2021, the indexation coefficient of pensions will be the average annual increase in the consumer price index for 2018, 2019 and 2020, and in October - the inflation rate for the first half of this year. According to the document, as of April 1, 2021, the indexation coefficient is set at 3.89%, taking into account the average annual growth of consumer price indices over the past 3 years. At the same time, from April 1, 2021, the amount of the minimum old-age pension will be 1188.05 lei, and the amount of the minimum pension for disability will be 891.04 lei - in case of severe disability; 831.64 lei – in case of pronounced limitation of opportunities; 594.03 lei – in case of average handicap. The coefficient of the autumn indexation of pensions, provided from October 1, 2021, will be set by the government. It is expected that the indexation will affect more than 731 thousand beneficiaries, for this purpose it is planned about 608.6 million lei. To implement a new mechanism for indexing pensions, amendments were made to the Law on the State Budget and the Law on the State Social Insurance Budget for 2021. // 19.03.2021 - InfoMarket.
