The Ministry of Energy calls on Moldovan citizens to contribute to more efficient electricity use, especially during peak hours
As the Ministry notes, hot days lead to increased electricity consumption. As temperatures rise, millions of air conditioners operate simultaneously, and consumption reaches its peak, especially in the evening. This phenomenon is observed throughout the region and puts pressure on the power grid. Moldova has diversified sources of electricity, but every citizen can contribute to its more efficient use, especially during peak consumption hours. The Ministry of Energy emphasizes that a few simple actions can make a difference. For example, it is recommended to set the air conditioner temperature to 24–26°C. Every degree lower results in significantly higher energy consumption. Keep windows and doors closed when the air conditioner is running, and use blinds or curtains to reduce heat buildup inside the home. Whenever possible, it is recommended to run the washing machine, dishwasher, or other large household appliances during off-peak hours—after 9:00 p.m. or in the morning. You should also turn off the lights in unused rooms and unplug appliances that are in standby mode. It is also recommended to use a fan when sufficient, or to use it in combination with an air conditioner to achieve comfort while reducing energy consumption. It is also recommended to avoid using an electric oven during the hottest hours of the day. Whenever possible, it is recommended to cook in the morning or evening. “Charge electric vehicles and other high-energy-consumption equipment during periods of low demand. Every kilowatt-hour saved contributes to more efficient use of the power system and helps maintain responsible consumption during peak periods,” the Ministry of Energy emphasizes. // 30.06.2026 — InfoMarket
