The European Union, as part of the EcoVoucher program, will provide financial assistance to an additional 1,160 families in Moldova for the purchase of energy-efficient household appliances
As reported by the Ministry of Energy and the National Center for Sustainable Energy, the household appliance voucher program (EcoVoucher) is continuing with a new session, funded by the European Union, from May 22 to June 7. The program provides direct assistance to households in Moldova to reduce energy consumption and modernize home appliances. EcoVoucher remains an important tool for supporting families, offering vouchers worth 6,000 lei for the purchase of energy-efficient household appliances—refrigerators and washing machines—that meet energy efficiency standards and the European Conformity (CE) mark. The beneficiaries of this program are approximately 1,160 families—those with minor children, seniors over 63 years of age, and people with severe disabilities. To participate in the program, one must be registered in the Energy Vulnerability Information System. Beneficiaries will be notified via SMS or email about the availability of vouchers, which will be accessible on the platform compensatii.gov.md. Beneficiaries will be able to use the vouchers during the program’s duration. They cover up to 70% of the cost of household appliances (but not exceeding the voucher value) for the purchase of energy-efficient refrigerators (including refrigerators with built-in freezers) and washing machines. Every household appliance purchased under the program must meet energy efficiency criteria and European conformity standards (CE). To use the voucher, recipients will need to turn in a used household appliance of the same type. The results of the EcoVoucher program confirm the positive impact of the measures implemented. Recipients report significant savings on monthly bills, increased comfort in their homes, and growing interest in energy-efficient equipment. Since the program’s launch, 41,645 families in Moldova have used vouchers to purchase major household appliances. In 2026, the EcoVoucher program is funded by the European Union with an estimated budget of 1 million euros as part of the “Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy in Moldova” (E4M) project, implemented by GIZ. More detailed information about the program, a list of partner stores, and instructions for using the vouchers are available on the website www.ecovoucher.md. The EcoVoucher program was developed by the Moldovan government with the support of the European Union. // 22.05.2026 – InfoMarket.
