About 130 participants in Moldova’s energy market have completed training on electricity trading on OPEM platforms

According to the Ministry of Energy, it held a technical webinar on trading opportunities in organized electricity markets in collaboration with the Moldovan Energy Market Operator (OPEM). The event was attended by electricity producers, suppliers, traders, aggregators, system operators, energy storage system operators, and other market participants. During the webinar, participants were introduced to the mechanisms of short-term electricity markets—the Day-Ahead Market (DAM) and the Intraday Market (IDM)—as well as the procedures for registration and trading on platforms managed by OPEM. Practical aspects of market operations, the order matching process, electricity pricing mechanisms, and the use of local trading platforms were also covered. Webinar participants received detailed information on the required documents and administrative steps for registration on organized electricity markets, as well as explanations regarding applicable technical and commercial terms. The Ministry noted that, given the prospect of full market liberalization for large and medium-sized non-residential consumers scheduled for January 1, 2027, it is necessary to standardize commercial offers, including the introduction of fixed-term and fixed-price contracts, to ensure transparency and comparability for consumers. This will ensure the development of a liquid, transparent, and competitive wholesale market: producers will be able to sell their electricity more effectively, suppliers will gain access to clear and relevant price signals, and end consumers will benefit from real competition and more transparent market prices. As a reminder, DAM and IDM were launched in December 2025; they have contributed to increasing the transparency of the electricity market, reducing imbalances in the system, and the effective integration of renewable energy sources, and have become an important step in the process of liberalizing and integrating Moldova’s energy market into the European market. More detailed information on participation conditions and required documentation is available on the official OPEM website. // 19.05.2026 — InfoMarket.
