During the 2025–2026 heating season, families in Moldova will receive compensation ranging from 500 to 1,000 lei

Government adopted this decision, passing amendments to previous government resolutions regarding the provision of energy compensation in the form of cash payments during the cold season. As noted by Minister of Labor and Social Protection Natalia Plugaru, the minimum amount of compensation remains unchanged at 500 lei, which is stable support aimed at ensuring minimum guaranteed protection for all families eligible for compensation. The maximum compensation amount will be 1,000 lei, taking into account technical parameters such as tariffs, average consumption, and energy market dynamics. “We stand by vulnerable families to support them this year as well,” said the head of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. As in the previous season, compensation will be provided in cash. The amount will be transferred to a bank card or can be received at any post office in the country upon presentation of an identity card. The vulnerability criteria have been adjusted, with a new criterion introduced: income from bank interest, which must not exceed 4,000 lei for the previous year. This will ensure more effective management of compensation and a more accurate identification of vulnerable categories. Compensation will be calculated and provided individually for each household based on a number of criteria, such as income, number of family members, heating source, and the status of each family member (pensioner, disabled person, student, child). The Energy Vulnerability Information System checks data from the information systems of a number of institutions: the State Tax Service, the National Social Insurance Office, the National Council for Disability and Work Capacity Determination, the Public Services Agency, energy suppliers, the National Employment Agency, universities, and banking institutions. Since the start of the registration period, 780,000 applications for compensation have been submitted. Individuals who have not registered on the compensatii.gov.md platform by November 28 can still register, but will receive compensation starting next month. If the application is submitted after the 25th of the month, compensation will be provided starting next month. For questions related to registration, please call the toll-free call center number 0 8000 5000 (Monday-Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.). The Cabinet of Ministers reminds that, with the support of the European Union, starting in February 2025, the government will continue to pay compensation for electricity, directly in bills, for the first 110 kWh consumed. All households in Moldova receive this compensation on a monthly basis. // 03.12.2025 – InfoMarket.
