42.58 MW of photovoltaic capacity was installed in Moldova as of the end of May 2025 through the net metering mechanism by 2029 prosumers
The Ministry of Energy provided these figures, citing information from the National Center for Sustainable Energy. The distribution of capacity is as follows: 18% by individuals (7.73 MW); 10% by budgetary institutions (4.12 MW); 72% by private companies (30.74 MW). High demand has led to a recent amendment to the current legislation, which increases the capacity ceiling for domestic consumers to 10 kW. Other renewable technologies, such as wind and biogas plants, may also be used. “These changes support the energy transition and the active involvement of citizens and companies in the production of green energy,” the Ministry of Energy noted. // 03.07.2025 – InfoMarket.
