Over 4.3 thousand families in Moldova received financial assistance to replace old energy-intensive household appliances with modern energy-efficient ones
The assistance was provided within the 3rd session of the EcoVoucher program, which took place from May 26 to June 15. Each household eligible for assistance received a voucher for 6 thousand lei, covering up to 70% of the cost of a refrigerator or washing machine with low energy consumption. In return, the beneficiaries handed over old equipment of the same type for recycling, thus contributing to waste reduction and environmental protection. The vouchers were used in 8 partner retail chains with over 80 active points of sale throughout the country. Over 15.3 thousand households received assistance to switch to modern equipment during the 3 sessions held in 2025, and since the launch of the program, the total number of families who have received assistance has exceeded 26.8 thousand. The EcoVoucher program was developed by the government with the support of the EU. It is implemented by the National Sustainable Energy Center within the framework of the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy for Moldova (E4M) project. E4M is a project implemented by GIZ jointly with the Government of Moldova, financed by the German Government and co-financed by the EU, Norway and Denmark. The current edition of the Household Appliances Voucher Program is financed by Norway. Full information about the program, the list of partner stores and steps to use the voucher are available on the website www.ecovoucher.md.
