Romanian national gas company Romgaz has opened a branch in Moldova and intends to obtain a license to supply natural gas.
According to its report, on May 16, the branch was registered with the Public Services Agency of Moldova. Earlier, by its decision, Romgaz's Management Board approved the creation of a branch for gas supply to Moldova and measures to register it under the name Societatea Națională de Gaze Naturale ROMGAZ SA Mediaș - Sucursala Chișinău. Romgaz General Director Răzvan Popescu said that the registration of the Romgaz branch in Chisinau is part of the actions the company is taking to expand its gas supply activities at the regional level, which is a goal set in the company's strategy for 2021-2030. Romgaz wants to contribute to the security of natural gas supply in Moldova and the opening of the branch in Chisinau provides the prerequisites for achieving this goal. Romgaz Deputy General Director Aristotel Jude said that Romgaz will soon take the steps necessary to obtain a license to supply natural gas in Moldova. "We are convinced that Romgaz's presence in Moldova and natural gas trading on Moldova's centralized market will effectively contribute to the liberalization of the natural gas market in this country and to the creation of prerequisites necessary for setting a real price in the interests of consumers," he said. // 17.05.2024 - InfoMarket.
