The government has approved energy label requirements for a range of household appliances.
In particular, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a number of documents: Regulations on energy labeling of refrigerators; Regulations on energy labeling of household washing machines and household dryers; Regulations on energy labeling of light sources; Regulations on energy labeling of household dishwashers; Regulations on energy labeling of electronic displays. However, the provisions provide for a number of exceptions. For example, they do not affect refrigerated cabinets for commercial use and quick freezing (other than commercial drawer freezers); appliances whose main function is not storing food in the refrigerator; Battery-powered household washers and dryers that can be connected to the grid through a separately purchased AC/DC converter; etc. Recall that earlier in Moldova the Law on Labeling of Energy-Consuming Products was adopted, according to which the labels of devices will contain information about their energy efficiency, consumption of energy or other resources, as well as other additional information (annual energy consumption on a scale from A to G, noise level, QR code - to gain access to additional information about the product, etc.). Therefore, an energy label with information about the product's energy class and energy consumption must be placed on every electrical product sold in a store or online. This will allow citizens to choose more efficient household appliances to reduce energy consumption. The State Inspectorate for the Supervision of Non-Food Products and Consumer Protection will be the administrative body responsible for ensuring that suppliers and traders comply with legal provisions regarding product labeling. If the Market Surveillance Service detects violations, it has the right to impose sanctions on economic agents in accordance with the Contravention Code.//13.03.2024 — InfoMarket.
