The 400 kV high-voltage power line Vulcanesti-Chisinau, with a total length of 157 km, will cross 8 regions of the country.

This was reported by the United Unit for the Implementation and Monitoring of Energy Projects (UCIPE), noting that, according to the technical construction project, about 500 supports and 3 types of poles, more than 1,500 km or 1,900 tons of wires will be used for the construction of the Vulcanesti-Chisinau power transmission line. There will also be 157 km of fiber optic cable with 36 fibers, which will ensure secure and fast data transmission. The technical design for the construction of the 400 kV transmission line Vulcanesti-Chisinau is being checked and examined by the State Service for Verification and Examination of Projects and Structures. As noted, such important and impressive ones have not been implemented in Moldova over the past 30 years. Recall that the goal of the project is the construction of a high-voltage overhead power line from Vulcanesti to Chisinau, the modernization/expansion of 2 power plants, as well as strengthening the dispatch and electricity metering system. The total cost of the project is 61 million euros and it is financed by the International Development Association - IDA, part of the World Bank Group. The beneficiary of the project is the State Enterprise Moldelectrica. As InfoMarket previously reported, the contract for the construction of the Vulcanesti-Chisinau high-voltage power line was signed with the Indian company KEC International. Its construction is scheduled for completion in 2024. This power line will be built as part of the project for interconnection of the power grids of Moldova and Romania with a total cost of over 260 million euros, the goal of which is to ensure the country’s energy security by connecting Moldova to the internal energy market of the European Union through power lines, as well as strengthening internal electricity transmission networks. The project is planned to be implemented by the end of 2024 with the support of the EBRD (loan 80 million euros), the EIB (loan 80 million euros), the International Development Association from the World Bank Group (loan 61 million euros), and the European Union (grant 39.4 million euros).// 11.09.2023 — InfoMarket.
