Discussions have been held to determine the priority tasks for ensuring the fulfillment of preparatory works for the construction of a single-circuit (400 kV) overhead power transmission line Vulcanesti - Chisinau.

According to Moldova Energy Projects Implementation Unit (MEPIU), the discussions were held with representatives of the Public Services Agency, Land Relations and Cadastre Agency and the State Institute for Land Use and Territory Planning. The discussions were aimed at prioritizing work on the identification of owners of immovable property (final systematization of territorial arrangement projects, correction of mistakes made during the land expropriation process) related to the implementation of the land expropriation procedure. Ruslan Surugiu, Interim Director of MEPIU, mentioned that the expropriation procedure is as important as it is difficult, and requires efforts in order to have all the activities carried out in due time and to avoid delays in starting the construction of the overhead transmission line. Following negotiations, the parties defined the steps to be taken by each of them to ensure the contractor's access to the land plot within the pre-agreed terms and the measures to be taken as regards temporary registration, formation and delimitation of immovable property affected by the construction of the overhead line. As InfoMarket news agency earlier reported, the contract for the construction of the Vulcanesti-Chisinau high-voltage power line worth 27 million euros has been signed with the Indian company KEC International. The construction is to be completed in 2024. The line is part of a 260 million euros project on interconnection of the electricity networks of Moldova and Romania, the goal of which is to ensure energy security of the country by connecting Moldova with the internal energy market of the European Union through power lines and strengthening domestic energy transportation networks. The construction of this transmission line is co-financed by the World Bank and other donors. // 06.07.2023 – InfoMarket
