The World Bank mission assesses the implementation of the Moldova Power System Development Project.

Specifically, the team for the implementation of the Moldova Power System Development Project (PDSE) within the Consolidated Unit for the Implementation and Monitoring of Projects in the Field of Energy (UCIPE) participated in the World Bank's PDSE assessment mission kick-off meeting. During the discussions, the parties considered the following topics: assessment of the current project status and next steps, procurement plan, financial management, environmental and social aspects, resettlement action plan in the context of transmission line construction and others. The monitoring mission will last until May 4 and will continue with working meetings in the World Bank office, as well as field visits. The Moldova Power System Development Project is backed by the World Bank and aims at building a high-voltage overhead transmission line in the direction of Vulcanesti-Chisinau, at modernizing/extending 2 electric substations, as well as at amplifying the dispatching and energy recording system. The beneficiary of the project is the State Enterprise Moldelectrica. As InfoMarket news agency earlier reported, the contract on construction of the high-voltage line Vulcanesti-Chisinau, worth EUR 27 million, was signed with the Indian company KEC International. Its construction is expected to be completed in 2024. The line will be built within the framework of a EUR 260 million project on interconnection of the electricity networks of Moldova and Romania, whose goal is to ensure energy security of the country by connecting Moldova with the internal energy market of the European Union through power lines and strengthening domestic energy transportation networks. The project is to be realized until the end of 2024 with the support of EBRD (EUR 80 million loan), EIB (EUR 80 million loan), International Development Association from the World Bank Group (EUR 61 million loan) and European Union (EUR 39.4 million grant). // 03.05.2023 - InfoMarket.
