The National Energy Regulatory Agency informed that, at the same time, in value terms, the volume of gas purchases in January-December 2020, compared to the same period of the previous year, decreased by 31.7% - to 2 billion 934.9 million lei, which was the result of a 35.9% decrease in the purchase price of gas from 4064 lei (in lei equivalent, excluding VAT) for 1 thousand cubic meters in 2019 to 2604 lei per 1 thousand cubic meters in 2020. According to ANRE, in 2020, versus 2019, the volume of gas supplies to the end consumers of the country in physical terms increased by 3% - up to 1 billion 046.3 million cubic meters, and in value terms - decreased by 1.9% - to 4 billion 741.3 million lei. At the same time, the population in 2020, relative to the previous year, increased gas consumption in physical terms by 7.2% - up to 372.7 million cubic meters, and in monetary terms - by 3.3% - up to 1 billion 875.9 million lei. The energy sector enterprises used 371.4 million cubic meters of gas in January-December 2020 worth 1 billion 610.2 million lei. At the same time, versus the same period of the previous year, their gas consumption in 2020 in physical terms increased by 1.9%, and in monetary terms - by 1.8%. Gas consumption by budgetary institutions decreased by 9.3% in physical terms and by 13.5% in monetary terms. They used 41.5 million cubic meters of gas in 2020 worth 202.8 million lei.
