
Moldova and the UAE intend to expand cooperation in trade, agriculture, infrastructure, and IT, attract new investments, and launch a new direct flight between the countries
This was discussed during a meeting in Abu Dhabi between Moldovan Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi and UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed al Nahyan. The Moldovan foreign Minister's visit to the United Arab Emirates took place at the invitation of his Emirati counterpart at a symbolic moment, marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Moldova and the UAE. During the meeting, the Foreign Ministers of the two countries expressed interest in strengthening cooperation between Moldova and the UAE, especially in the economic sphere. The importance of attracting investment and developing direct contacts between the state structures of the two countries was noted. They also discussed opportunities for cooperation in trade, agriculture, infrastructure, and information technology. Mihai Popșoi thanked Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his support in the process of visa liberalization, which will allow Moldovan citizens to visit the UAE without a visa starting September 5. The Ministers also discussed developments in the process of signing an intergovernmental memorandum on the conversion and mutual recognition of driving licenses, which is to be signed in the near future. Mihai Popșoi reaffirmed Moldova's commitment to strengthening political dialogue and expanding bilateral cooperation with the UAE. In turn, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed that relations between the two countries have significant potential for development for the benefit of the citizens of both states.
