The Constitutional Court of Moldova at a meeting on Friday acknowledged the results of the snap parliamentary elections and approved the mandates of the elected MPs.
In the new parliament, the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) will have 63 MP mandates out of 101, the electoral bloc of communists and socialists - 32, and the SOR Party - 6 mandates. After the results of the elections have been approved by the Constitutional Court, the President of Moldova must convene the new parliament for its first, constituent meeting. As previously reported, according to the 63rd article of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, the new parliament is convened by the President of Moldova no later than 30 days after the elections. From the day of the founding meeting, the parliament is considered legally formed. According to the Parliament's Rules of Procedure, the constituent session of the newly elected parliament is chaired by the oldest MP. The chairperson of the session gives the floor to the chairman of the Constitutional Court to report on the results of the parliamentary elections and the acknowledgement of the mandates of the elected MPs. Parliamentary factions are created within 10 days after the legal formation of parliament and operate on the basis of their own regulations. Parliamentary factions consist of at least 5 elected MPs. After the legal formation of the parliament, the chairperson of the parliament (Parliament Speaker) and his MPs are elected and the Standing Bureau of the Parliament is formed. To elect the Parliament Speaker, the legislature, at the suggestion of parliamentary factions, creates a commission. The Parliament Speaker is elected for the term of office of the parliament by secret ballot. The deputy chairpersons of the parliament are elected on the proposal of the Parliament Speaker after consultation with the parliamentary factions by an open vote by a majority of the elected MPs. The Standing Bureau of the Parliament is its working body and is formed taking into account the proportional representation of factions in parliament. It consists of Parliament Speaker and his deputies. The chairpersons, deputy chairpersons, secretaries, members and deputy members of the standing committees are elected by parliament by a majority of the elected MPs. The nominal composition of the standing committees is determined taking into account the proportional representation of the factions in the parliament. // 23.07.2021 – InfoMarket
