As reported by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, strengthening Moldovan-Austrian economic ties and promoting Moldova as an attractive investment destination were the main topics of the working visit to Austria by Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Eugen Osmochescu. In Vienna, he held a meeting with Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer, Austria’s Federal Minister of Economy, Energy, and Tourism, during which both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in deepening Moldovan-Austrian economic ties and intensifying investment cooperation. Moldova’s investment advantages were presented, along with reforms aimed at improving the investment climate and business environment, as well as opportunities offered by free economic zones, industrial parks, and technology hubs. The visit’s program also included meetings with representatives of the Austrian business community and economic institutions. During discussions with Christoph Neumayer, Secretary General of the Federation of Austrian Industries, Igor Sekardi, Director of International Affairs and Markets at the Federation of Austrian Industries, as well as with representatives of Gebauer & Griller and OMV, the parties analyzed prospects for expanding bilateral economic cooperation, identifying new investment opportunities, and developing a sustainable partnership between the business communities of the two countries. According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, Austria is one of Moldova’s main economic partners. Currently, more than 90 companies with Austrian capital operate in the Moldovan market, and the volume of Austrian investments amounts to approximately 47.3 million euros.
