
The European Investment Bank has invested a total of about EUR 1.5 billion in Moldova since 2007
This was reported by the government, noting that the projects financed by the European Investment Bank (EIB) in Moldova were assessed during a meeting organized by the State Chancellery, the EIB and the Ministry of Finance. The event was attended by representatives of the EIB, the Directorate-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighborhood (DG ENEST), the EU Delegation, national authorities and units implementing projects in areas such as energy infrastructure, roads, environment, agriculture, waste management, healthcare and education. According to the State Chancellery, this assessment represents a joint commitment by the Moldovan authorities and development partners to ensure that every leu invested in national projects brings real change, directly impacting the quality of life of citizens. Among the EIB's recent achievements were the signing of EUR 250 million in loans for road construction and EUR 16 million in grants in 2022, the attraction of EUR 120 million in loans in 2023, of which EUR 23.5 million was used for projects, and the signing of a EUR 200 million loan agreement for the Forestry Development Programme in 2024, as well as EUR 12 million in grants and EUR 8.2 million in guarantees for local banks. The total amount of disbursements amounted to EUR 63 million, and this money was directed towards public and private projects.
