100 local administrations have submitted applications for participation in the National Program “European Village-2”; applications can still be submitted until March 29.

According to the National Office for Regional and Local Development, since December 20 last year, when the second program was launched, 100 requests for funding have been received for projects in areas such as the construction or reconstruction of water and sewerage systems, the installation of street lighting, the construction or reconstruction of public buildings, etc. Depending on the number of residents, localities can receive government funding from 1 million to 3 million lei, without any investment on their part. It is also possible to finance up to 85% of the project cost, if it is up to 10 million lei, the remaining 15% must be contributed by local authorities. Applications for participation in the program can be submitted until March 29. The 2024 program assumes that projects to restore water and sewerage systems are an absolute priority. According to the director of the institution, Mihail Croitoru, to date, 717 out of 896 approved projects (80% of the total) have been implemented within the framework of the national programs “European Village” and “European Village Express”.
