Germany will allocate grants worth 48.7 million euros for the implementation of projects in the field of energy efficiency, water supply and sanitation in Moldova.
The Moldovan government has approved the start of negotiations on a relevant agreement with the German government. The funds will be used to finance 2 projects in Moldova: "Green energy production and energy efficiency" (38.7 million euros) and "Water supply and wastewater disposal in the Cahul region II stage" (10 million euros). Most of the funds will be invested in the National Energy Rehabilitation Program of the Moldova Real Estate Fund, which targets both public institutions (kindergartens, schools, city and district hospitals) and residential buildings. As part of the project, work will be carried out on the reconstruction of heating, ventilation, heat distribution and lighting systems. At the same time, 10 million euros will be used to finance the project "Water supply and wastewater disposal in the Cahul region, stage II." The grant is needed to cover the budget deficit of the project, which provides for the construction of a new main water pipeline, the rehabilitation of some sections of water supply in Cahul municipality, expansion of the city sewerage and repair of 2 sewage pumping stations. It is worth noting that grant agreements will be concluded between the German State Bank (KfW) and the beneficiaries of financial contributions. The allocated amounts will be valid and available until December 12, 2027, subject to the signing of funding agreements between KfW and the recipients of funds within 5 years from the date of grants. // 24.05.2023 — InfoMarket.
