Switzerland intends to allocate 26 million Swiss francs (over $28 million) to Moldova in 2023 and 114 million francs ($123 million) to Ukraine in assistance.
This was announced by the Swiss government, the Federal Council. As noted in Bern, the Federal Council is convinced that support for Ukraine must continue in order to improve the still difficult situation of the population and guarantee the functioning of the state, and therefore the government is proposing a new plan for assistance to Ukraine and Moldova and will seek parliamentary approval to send them a new package of 140 million Swiss francs ($151 million) in additional humanitarian aid, of which 114 million Swiss francs are provided for Ukraine and 26 million for Moldova. As noted, this aid will be a targeted response to the needs and requests of both countries in areas in which Switzerland has special technical expertise. The Swiss Cabinet named among them: construction of buildings for schools, repair of hospitals and energy infrastructure, micro-credits to agricultural SMEs, demining, psychosocial support to the population and more. Federal Council recalled that since February 24, 2022, Switzerland has allocated about 1.3 billion Swiss francs (over $1.4 billion) for assistance measures to Ukraine. Of this amount, more than 270 million francs were provided within the framework of international cooperation and other types of actions. In turn, 1.03 billion francs were allocated for the program of reception of refugees from Ukraine. //23.02.2023 - InfoMarket.
