Over 30 million euros were invested by the European Union and EU countries in the development of the Cahul region in recent years.
This was mentioned during a visit to Cahul by representatives of the EU Delegation to Moldova. It has been said that over the past years EU and its member states have invested more than 30 million euros for the development of Cahul municipality and the region, while the support has been mainly directed at financing projects on modernization of public services, implementation of infrastructure projects, reconstruction of recreation zones, support to local entrepreneurs, as well as other local initiatives. During the visit to Cahul, the representatives of the EU Delegation in our country had discussions with entrepreneurs who develop business with EU support, visited the innovation and creative space created by the Digital Laboratory and held discussions on the European perspective of Moldova. The visit began with a tour of the Cahul Business Incubator, where residents benefit from EU business mentoring and advice. Most of the incubator's resident entrepreneurs are also beneficiaries of EU-funded assistance programs. EU officials also met with students from the Piotr Rumeantev Theoretical Lyceum. Piotr Rumeantev Theoretical Lyceum houses the Digital Laboratory equipped with high-performance equipment for studying future disciplines. The lab was funded by the EU and Sweden. "Through a number of key EU-funded initiatives, we are already seeing tangible impact on the infrastructure, economy, education and society sectors as a whole. These initiatives provide the basis for sustainable and inclusive economic growth and help improve the lives of people in the Cahul region," said Adam Grodzicki, Deputy Head of Cooperation at the European Union Delegation to Moldova. "We believe that the future of Moldova is the development of entrepreneurship among young people, especially in digital technologies and telecommunications. This sector has developed strongly in recent years and has a huge potential. Sweden supports this sector and encourages young people to build their future here in Moldova," said Thomas Alveteg, Deputy Head of Development Cooperation at the Swedish Embassy in Moldova. // 17.02.2023 – InfoMarket
