
The Parliament of Moldova has ratified an agreement with Romania on a grant of 100 million euros.
In particular, at the plenary session on Thursday, the deputies approved in two readings at once the draft ratification of the agreement between the governments of Moldova and Romania on the implementation of a technical and financial assistance program based on gratuitous financial assistance in the amount of 100 million euros. The agreement will come into force from the date of publication in the Monitorul oficial. The target areas of assistance will be: energy, transport, environment, infrastructure, small business, media independence, public administration reform, healthcare, culture, tourism. The funds will be provided for 7 years. At the same time, to ensure the full disbursement of funds, the implementation period of the agreement can be extended for up to 3 years. The agreement also provides for the financial contribution of Moldova, which cannot be less than 5% of the costs for each project. In addition, the Government of Moldova will have to ensure exemption from taxes, fees and any other payments for equipment and materials provided by the Romanian partners in the project, public or private, financed by the contribution. Moldovan Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita said earlier that the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Moldova intends to use most of the funds from the new Romanian grant for regional and local development, financing of many social and infrastructure facilities in the regions and villages, repair and modernization of kindergartens, schools, sewage systems, treatment facilities , street lighting, the implementation of social entrepreneurship projects, the launch of new enterprises with financial support in the form of a grant, etc. // 10.03.2022 — InfoMarket.
