
Parliament of Moldova will soon ratify agreements with Romania on a grant of 100 million euros and the construction of the Prut bridge in Ungheni.
In particular, the Commission on Economy, Budget and Finance approved at a meeting on Wednesday a report on a draft law on the ratification of an agreement between the governments of Moldova and Romania on the implementation of a technical and financial assistance program based on gratuitous financial assistance worth 100 million euros, and this document will be submitted for ratification in the plenary session of Parliament. The agreement will take effect from the date of publication in Monitorul Oficial (the Official Journal of Moldova). The Romanian grant of 100 million euros will be used to implement projects that will contribute to the development of Moldova for the benefit of citizens. The target areas of assistance will be: energy, transport, environment, infrastructure, small business, media independence, public administration reform, healthcare, culture, tourism. The funds will be provided for 7 years. At the same time, in order to ensure the full mastering of funds provided by the Romanian government to Moldova, the implementation term can be extended for up to three years. The agreement also provides for a financial contribution provided by Moldova, which cannot be less than 5% of the eligible costs for each project. Also during today's meeting, the Commission on Economy, Budget and Finance unanimously approved the report on the draft law on the ratification of another agreement between the governments of Moldova and Romania. The document defines the technical, financial, legal and organizational aspects related to the construction, operation, maintenance and repair of the border road bridge between the two states across the Prut between the settlements of Ungheni (Moldova) and Ungheni (Romania). // 02.03.2022 – InfoMarket
