
The European Commission will provide Moldova with 60 million euro in the form of budget support to manage the energy crisis.
The draft resolution on the beginning of negotiations and the signing of a financial agreement between the Moldovan government and the European Commission was approved at a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday. According to the document, the EC budget support will be provided to Moldova in the form of a grant, the entire amount will be provided in one tranche until the end of 2021. Funding will be aimed at achieving three main goals: overcoming socio-economic difficulties and supporting socially vulnerable groups of the population in the context of the energy crisis; supporting post-pandemic socio-economic recovery and economic growth, including increasing the government's ability to provide personalized services to vulnerable groups in response to rising gas prices and the cornavirus pandemic; supporting the government's long-term goals for energy transformation and concrete actions for increasing energy efficiency. The financing agreement will be signed on December 15 in Brussels at the Eastern Partnership Summit. At the same time, the government approved the National Action Plan for Overcoming the Energy Crisis, which contains a specific list of measures and actions. According to the document, the total cost of measures to reduce the impact of rising energy prices on consumers, as well as measures to support socially vulnerable groups of the population, in 2021 will amount to about 854 million lei (42 million euros) and 1 billion 872 million lei (92 million euros) - in 2022. // 14.12.2021 — InfoMarket
