The Swiss company Schoeni is investing 1.5 million euros in the construction of a plant for processing vegetables and fruits in Moldova.

This is provided for by an investment agreement signed by Schoeni representative Daniel Schoeni and Chief Administrator of Balti Free Economic Zone Marin Ciobanu. It should be noted that Schoeni registered the company HIS EAST SRL in July 2021 and became a resident of the Balti Free Economic Zone (FEZ) in its sub-zone in Stefan Voda. The initiative of the mentioned investment project arose after the Swiss company had carried out an extensive study of the possibilities of the agricultural sector in Moldova. The investment of 1.5 million euros will include the construction of a plant with an area of 2 thousand square meters in Stefan-Voda district for the processing of vegetables and fruits. The main goal of the project is to provide small agricultural producers the opportunity to turn primary agricultural production into value-added products. The plant will also be equipped with modern equipment for processing vegetables and fruits, its capacity will be about 2 thousand tons per year. In the long term, it is planned to expand production capacities and areas up to 10 thousand square meters with a corresponding increase in investment and employment. The chief administrator of Balti FEZ Marin Ciobanu noted that this investment project is very important not only at the regional, but also at the national level. In addition to being the first Swiss company to decide to invest in Moldova, it will create the basis for other investments in a less explored area - agricultural processing. Another important aspect is the creation of new jobs in the region. Currently, the construction of engineering networks and other works are underway in the Balti FEZ subzone in Stefan Voda. The plant is expected to open at the beginning of the next growing season, in May-June 2022. The enterprise will start processing vegetables (cabbage, beets, carrots, potatoes, and onions), berries (raspberries, strawberries) and fruits (apples, pears). Both frozen semi-finished products and finished products will be exported to Switzerland and other EU countries. // 18.10.2021- InfoMarket.
